Breaking News: Chase Elliott will not be driving the number 24 next year. Chase will be driving the number his father Bill Elliott famously drove, the number 9. The young up and coming William Byron who was originally supposed to drive the number 5 that Kahne is driving this year will now drive the number 24. Both will still be driving for Hendrick Motorsports. The number 5 car will not be used by Hendrick Motorsports for the 2018 season. The two will have teammates Jimmie Johnson in the number 48 and Alex Bowman taking over the 88 ride in 2018.
