NASCAR Update: Darlington and Richmond
To pickup where I left you last time, Denny Hamlin won the race at Darlington in the #11 Sport Clips "Flying 11" Toyota Throwback. This is the one race each year were the sport will "throw it back" to the early days of NASCAR. The theme for throwbacks this year was centered on the 80's. Drivers had paint schemes on their cars to match the cars that legends of the sport once drove. Not only were the cars throwback almost everything was a throwback. From Newscasters in old outfits, to Richard Petty driving the pace car, to drives with mullets, and even more the whole sport was paying tribute to its history.
The next race was from Richmond Raceway and was home to the final race of the regular season. This was the last chance for drivers to make it into one of the 16 playoff spots. Kyle Larson won the race for his fourth of the season and Martin Truex Jr. was awarded the first ever regular season champion trophy.
The next race is from Chicagoland Speedway at 2pm central on NBCSN.
